3.  MORE RESOURCES AND GUIDANCE FOR SCHOOLS:

  • Writing: struggling with Dysgraphia? Have you considered seeking the expertise of an occuational therapist? Programmes such as "Writing Without Tears" are often successful with a multi-sensory approach and careful monitoring, including fine motor skills. Perhaps see more at  www.hwtears.com>hwt>training
  • Writing as mark-making: it is worth looking at Marie Clay's fundamental considerations on www.learningtowrite.ecsd.net . Clay's "How Very Young Children Explore Writing," Heineman 2010, is often considered very helpful for better understanding the significance of children's early mark making. Clay is often remembered for 'Reading Recovery' but her earlier work around mark making is recommended.

  • Children and Anxiety: having been asked for useful sites to support wide ranging needs, from panic attacks to severe Anxiety, a good source of information is www.anxietyuk.org.uk. More information at www.mind.org.uk

  • Often EHCP applications are lengthy documents and local authority pro forma do vary. It is important to read up on your Local S.E.N./D. Offer. Help about  S.E.N./D. facilities in your area, is available from Parent Partnership or Information Advice and Support Services (IASS).
